Hawaii: Day 1

We're back from Hawaii. It was a great break... but I suppose now it's time to move on. But before we do, we'd like to share a bit of what we did.

After a long flight, actually several flights, we went to the grocery store to stock up on food for the week. Finally, after 12 hours of travelling we headed to bed.

Since it's 4 hours earlier in Hawaii, we got up early and went to church with Taffy's cousin Layce and aunt Diana, in the Kahala ward. The windows were open (actually no windows, just louvers)... the breeze was blowing... and no AC in Hawaii (except for the tourist locations). Still, it was a good set of meetings.

After church Layce cooked us a nice lunch (thanks again Layce), and drove us around while pointing out all the good sites and places to eat. We drove up the east side of Oahu and saw a few of the sites.

This is the "Blowhole." The water squirting up is actually coming out of a hole in the rock, hence the name.

Sandy beach... looking from the blowhole.

Next we headed farther up the coast to the Makapuu point state wayside. There was a little hike up the hill to the light house.
